Restaurant Reviews

Gastronomic SLC began as a restaurant review website.  Over the years, this has changed.  We no longer write traditional reviews of restaurants; instead, we prefer to highlight those spots that are really good, right now.  You can find those stories in our Eat Here Now category.

The Copper Onion restaurant review

One of SLC’s hottest new spots is The Copper Onion. Popular with local critics and diners alike (check out the nightly crowds!). New American, seasonal, local and housemade are phrases one hears thrown about left, right and center these days, but with The Copper Onion they might actually be more than just marketing hype. Read on to find out our full take on this new restaurant.

Omar’s Rawtopia restaurant review

Omar’s Rawtopia proudly represents itself as Utah’s only restaurant serving completely raw food. Not a single bite ever comes close to being baked, fried or boiled. The restaurant has been successfully operating since 2005; Corrinne heads on over to Omar’s to check out this Sugarhouse eatery.

Chow Truck review

Chow Haute Asian Cuisine or the Chow Truck by another name. Please welcome Salt Lake City’s answer to our West Coast neighbours popular high end food carts. Find out what we thought of this newcomer to SLC.

Frida Bistro restaurant review

South American flavours, a great matching wine selection and a finer dining ambiance, a killer combination surely? Frida Bistro has been the talk of the town lately, read on to find out how we found this unique new restaurant.

The Kathmandu Restaurant review

Most people know at least one or two Indian dishes these days, but Nepalese is still a relative rarity. We check out the new Kathmandu restaurant on highland drive that specialises in both Indian and Nepalese. Read on to find out how we found the restaurant.

Oasis Cafe restaurant review

Our latest review is of Brunch at Oasis Cafe in downtown SLC. Brunch is quite the rarity for us, read on to find out how are experience was.

Forage restaurant review

To finish 2009, and a year of fantastic meals, our final review of the year is a suitably extravangant one. Corrinne reviews the praise-laden Forage restaurant. Read on to find out if this new SLC restaurant lives up to all the hype.

Al Forno’s Ristorante review

While not chic and trendy, Al Forno’s is a long established neighbourhood restaurant. We head by to check in on how things are going, as the long dark nights entice us increasingly to heartier fare.

Vinto restaurant review

Corrinne checks out downtown SLC’s latest Pizzeria, Vinto. Focused on fresh quality ingredients how will this new eatery compare with downtown’s lauded Settebello. Read on to find out more.
