El Cholo is a Mexican restaurant in the Sugar House area of Salt Lake City. The restaurant is part of the famous California chain of restaurants, first formed in 1923. With over 100 years in business, the restaurant’s expansion into Utah was much anticipated, covered in great detail by local press. We wrote about the breaking news in July 2022.
The restaurant formally opened in October 2023. The restaurant secured a full service liquor license meaning they can serve beer, wine and liquor/cocktails with the ordering of food.
While the El Cholo building features a rooftop patio for al fresco dining, this was not ready at the time of opening. A representative of the business stated that this would come in phase two of the project (seen on local Reddit here)
