Missed the latest food news? Don’t fret, here’s the latest edition of our roundup of what everyone has been writing about. Bloggers to the gogglebox, all the roundups, and writeups of what’s on the place in Utah. First up Salt Lake Magazine. Lydia Martinez tackles the all-new Roux in Salt Lake City, also heading up to the Aves for a look at Marmalade Brunch House; more plate-focused pieces cover the parillada at Chile-Tepin, and the Ube Ice cream at Mint Sushi. Meanwhile, colleague Tony Gill names three Park City roadhouses worth a look and also names the best slices in Park City. It’s a braver person than me, that dips their toes into pizza picking…
In Utah Stories Ted Scheffler pens a quintet of articles. These cover Sol Agave, Manolis, Our Kitchen Cafe, La Cevicheria, and also a dozen seafood dishes, that might appeal amidst these soaring temps. Other items in Utah Stories include Taylor Hartman’s look at the best Ogden patios and Nicole Anderson’s look into the century-old Bangerter Farms.
Over in the City Weekly, Alex Springer checks out Les Barbecue (my picture top, featuring the titular Les Rhodes Jr hard at work), Blatch’s Backyard BBQ, Frankie & Essls, Vessel Kitchen, Brooker’s Founding Flavors Ice Cream while also rounding up some of the best Hawaiian restaurants in town.
Also popping up – Rio Connelly (yep the cider expert from Scion) writes about Baby’s Bagels, Kolbie Peterson of the Trib runs down the deets of the brand new Contento Cafe in South Salt Lake, and Marina Knight of Townlift, showcases Mumbai On Main – the arrival of one of Utah’s most well known Indian restaurants in Summit County. Kristine Weller of KPCW details what’s next for Park City’s Five5seeds, Tim Vandenack gets to grip with a variety of empanadas, while Kim Bojorquez of Axios looks a Tacos Lopez.
Lastly over on the TV – ABC4 features Noodlehead, KITA, The Bruce, and Blind Rabbit; FOX13 heads to Drunken Kitchen, Hi-Mountain, and The Bruce, while KUTV checks out Prodigy Brewing.

Hi, I’m Stuart, nice to meet you! I’m the founder, writer and wrangler at Gastronomic SLC. I’m a multiple-award winning journalist and have written in myopic detail about the Salt Lake City dining scene for the better part of seventeen years.
I’ve worked extensively with multiple local publications from Visit Salt Lake to Salt Lake Magazine, not least helped to consult on national TV. Pause those credits, yep, that’s me! I’m also a former restaurant critic of more than five years, working for the Salt Lake Tribune. I’m largely fueled by a critical obsession with rice, alliteration and the use of big words I don’t understand. What they’re saying about me: “Not inaccurate”, “I thought he was older”, “I don’t share his feelings”.
