As the month ends, here’s what’s on the food and drink calendar

St. Regis

Escape the valley heat and treat yourself to world-class views, as well as a variety of food and drink specials at this event. Next weekend sees this Deer Valley resort host a slope-side Summer BBQ Jam – a mix of food, drink, and live entertainment. Pictured top is the stunning vista view from the St. Regis’s patio.

On the food front, St. Regis is tapping celeb chef Jack Arnold, who will be showcasing his BBQ skills, as well as multiple food stations and collabs with names like Colorado Craft Beef, Grilla Grills, and Manukora Honey. Held on the resort’s Grand Lawn, tickets include all-you-can-eat food and a cocktail on arrival, and of course, the “fiery talents of celebrity host Jack Arnold”. Tickets are priced at $125, and the event is 21+ only.

Waldorf Astoria

Freeman Winery (named one of Sonoma’s top 25 wineries) will be on display at this Summit County event, as Executive Chef Stuart Roger presents a five-course menu. The meal will be held on the property’s Frostwood Terrace, menu as follows:

  • Amuse of Dill Mousse Tart with Caviar, Green Apple Relish, Fennel Flower
    • Yu/ki Brut Rose
  • Scallop Crudo, Coconut Broth, Bird’s Eye Pepper, Kafir Lime Leaf Oil
    • Riesling
  • Poached Halibut, Fragrant Summer Corn Broth, Black Truffle, Basil Oil
    • Ryo-Fu Chardonnay
  • Charred Duck Breast, Local Strawberries and Mustard Seed Pickle, Horseradish, Quinoa and Peas
    • Yu-ki Pinot Noir
  • Blackberry & Sage Pavlova, Lemon Verbena Cream, Candied Pistachio
    • Gloria Estate Pinot Noir

The price for food with drink pairings is $250 per person.

Manoli Katsanevas at Meet Your Maker event in 2018 – roasting lamb

Now a staple of the warmer months at Manoli’s – a whole lamb spit roast, held on the restaurant’s patio. The event is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with the regular menu also available. These evenings usually sell out quickly, so be sure to RSVP.

Riverhorse On Main

July 27th, 7.00 p.m.

Chef Seth Adams will team up with Memento Mori Winery in presenting the restaurant’s next wine dinner. The Napa Valley winery, which specializes in limited-production cabs will have four selections on the evening as follows:

2023 MAXEM Chardonnay
2023 Memento Mori ‘Flagship’ Cabernet Sauvignon
2022 Memento Mori ‘Flagship’ Cabernet Sauvignon
2022 Las Piedras or another Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Adams will serve up a five-course menu for the evening. The 21+ event is priced $317.90 per person.

Ritual Chocolate

While there’s no wrong way to enjoy Ritual Chocolate’s decadent lineup of bean-to-bar specialties, the small-batch chocolate producers will lead an intimate, guided tasting to teach guests how to truly taste chocolate like a connoisseur. Attendees will be tasked with slowing down to savor a curated selection of Ritual’s chocolates, exploring flavor, origin, and unexpected pairings with each exquisite bite. Only 16 spots are available for this special event.

City Cast 801 Day

The Gallivan Center will be the location for this family-friendly event, which seeks to celebrate all things SLC. Hosted by local podcasters City Cast, guests can expect a beer garden (from Second Summit Cider), local food trucks, and live entertainment. At the time of writing, the following names should be serving food:

  • Empanadas 801
  • Baja Boyz Tacos
  • Girls Who Smash
  • Lenguitas Chamoy
  • Lady Flour

City Cast writes, “Expect a beer garden hosted by Second Summit Hard Cider, live music from The Siren Collective, local food trucks, a Salt Lake icons costume contest, the first-ever Win Win summer artisan marketplace, and more! Think block-party vibes in the heart of downtown. It’s where you and your family will want to be on a summer evening in Salt Lake City — a party by locals, for locals.” The event is free, though the event recommends RSVP’ing should you attend.
