With the last vestiges of our extended Summer looking set to call it a day any moment – this weekend will also see the curtain call for the 2022 season of the Summer downtown SLC farmer’s market. This Saturday (October 22nd) will be your last chance to wander pioneer park and grab goodies from local farmers and makers. Don’t forget the ‘restaurant alley’ that sites in the Northern center of the park, offering a range of eclectic bites.
To mark the last Saturday of the seasonal market, the final event will feature free pumpkin decorating with pumpkins provided by Parker Farms. Decorating materials will be offered at the market info booth (while supplies last). The festivities start at 8 a.m. and end as per usual at 2 p.m.
Alison Einerson, executive director of Urban Food Connections of Utah writes, “The Downtown Farmers Market provides a vibrant and welcoming space for farmers and artists to sell locally grown and made products.
“The Market is an economic catalyst not only for the Pioneer Park neighborhood, but also for the entire state as vendors represent nearly half the counties in Utah. And, this year, more than 120 food producers and 110 artists reported record sales.”
Next on the horizon? Fans of shopping local should mark November 12th in their diary. That’s the day the Winter market returns to The Gateway this year.
Hi, I’m Stuart, nice to meet you! I’m the founder, writer and wrangler at Gastronomic SLC. I’m a multiple-award winning journalist and have written in myopic detail about the Salt Lake City dining scene for the better part of seventeen years.
I’ve worked extensively with multiple local publications from Visit Salt Lake to Salt Lake Magazine, not least helped to consult on national TV. Pause those credits, yep, that’s me! I’m also a former restaurant critic of more than five years, working for the Salt Lake Tribune. I’m largely fueled by a critical obsession with rice, alliteration and the use of big words I don’t understand. What they’re saying about me: “Not inaccurate”, “I thought he was older”, “I don’t share his feelings”.
