Chef/Owner Matt Lake is ringing in the new year at his new Alamexo Cantina in the 9th and 9th District with New Year’s Eve special offerings in addition to his all-day menu of regional Mexican specialties. Specials offered at Alamexo Cantina:

Molletes con Chorizo y Huevos
Toasted bread with chipotle black beans, queso Oaxaca, chorizo, and eggs. Garnished with pico de gallo, crema, cilantro, onion. $13.95

Queso Fundido con Langosta

A special cocktail will be offered, the “Peligroso” with Espolon reposado, fresh lime, ginger beer and a splash of creme de cassis. $12.00

Owner and Executive Chef Matt Lake, responsible for downtown’s award-winning Alamexo Mexican Kitchen, has long been planning this more casual, Mexican market-style cantina. He and his staff are excited to introduce his new neighborhood gathering place where everything is served family-style in a bright casual setting. Alamexo Cantina in the 9th and 9th District will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Hosting a special four-course New Year’s Eve dinner celebration from 5 until 9 p.m. chef Andy Morrison’s menu includes: an amuse bouche of chef’s specialty cheeses and crackers; iceberg wedge salad or baked potato bisque; entrée options of Niche nacho, “cheese steak” game burger; pecan crusted “fish sticks” or honey Sriracha airline chicken; and dessert selections of a double chocolate sundae or chef’s big strawberry cream puff.

Café Niche will open on New Year’s Eve for brunch from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. serving the regular menu. On New Year’s Day, Niche will be open for brunch from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., closed for dinner, and will be open again for regular business on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2017.

On Christmas Eve Café Niche will be open from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. serving their regular menu with specials from Chef Andy Morrison’s kitchen. Café Niche will be closed for Christmas Day all day to let their crew enjoy the holiday with their families, but open again for regular hours on the 26th.

Cuisine Unlimited’s Christmas menu offers everything from a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings down to just a simple butterscotch cream pie to go – and everything in between. Options for pickup or delivery will make your Christmas a cinch.

Chef Alan Brines and his culinary team are excited for Current Fish & Oyster’s New Year’s Eve celebration. He’s featuring customer favorites, has added some holiday specials, and is offering the option of adding his famous seafood tower. His four-course menu is available from 4 until 10 p.m. on Dec. 31. Diners choose one selection from each course. First course options include Caputo’s burrata, crab cakes, clam chowder or oysters; Brines’ second course choices include Current’s signature house salad, apple fennel salad or a kale and beet salad. Main course selections include the unique whole branzino, lobster tail, prime rib, pan-roasted sea scallops or roasted cauliflower.

Current Fish & Oyster will be open for dinner Christmas Eve, from 4 until 8 p.m., serving the regular dinner menu plus some specials. Current will be closed on Christmas Day to allow their employees to enjoy the holidays with their families. Current will be open on New Year’s Day for dinner starting at 5 p.m.

Goldener Hirsch will be serving its raved-about a la carte menu for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. On New Year’s Eve, however, it will be serving a special four-course prix fixe. Start with a choice of risotto with peekytoe crab, sun chokes and lemon; foie gras torchon with poached pear, walnut bread and solara elixir; or pecorino gregoriano with cauliflower, black currants and hazelnuts. Then enjoy either porcini mushroom soup or a salad of baby lettuces, before an entrée of wagyu beef, Maine lobster or classic wiener schnitzel. For dessert, dig into a delectable apple strudel or black raspberry panna cotta.

Park City’s beloved steakhouse is serving a pair of sumptuous three-course dinners for the holidays. For Christmas Day, start with your choice of hearts of romaine Caesar salad, wild rice and mushroom soup, or Park City’s best salad bar, followed by an entrée of herb-roasted strip loin of angus beef Bernaise, plus chocolate crème brulee for dessert.

For New Year’s Eve, choose between the Caesar, wild rice and mushroom soup, or salad bar, followed by surf-and-turf of beef tenderloin wrapped in Applewood smoked bacon, served with roasted shallots and a Maine lobster tail. Dessert is a classic: chocolate lava cake with Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream and fresh berries.

This premier fine-dining destination at Deer Valley Resort is serving a delectable seven-course prix fixe for New Year’s Eve. The evening starts with a selection of osetra caviar with charred shallot crème fraiche, buckwhete blini and Champagne espuma, followed by courses of Kusshi oysters, cold smoked Hamachi and kale and collards. Then enjoy charred Niman Ranch pork tenderloin, followed by wild Hawaiian venison rack, and a dessert of “crème de la crème” featuring house-made cream cheese cheesecake, caramelized whey and a hazelnut toffee crust.

Oasis Cafe will greet revelers this New Year’s Eve with a special four-course prix fixe menu from 5 p.m. Chef de cuisine Efren Benitez’s creative menu includes starter options of ahi bruschetta or his famous tour of grilled veggies; second course options of roasted beet and mandarin orange salad or shrimp bisque tempt diners while entrée selections of lobster bucatini, beef tenderloin, herb-crusted chicken breast and curried wild mushroom couscous round out the meal. Diners can cap off their New Year’s Eve meal with a choice of tuxedo cheesecake, poached saffron pear with vanilla cream or a delicate lemon strawberry roulade. Cost is $45 not including suggested wine pairings, tax or gratuity.

Breakfast and lunch will be served prior to 5 p.m. New Year’s Day brunch at Oasis Cafe is also a favorite with locals. It’s loaded with traditional breakfast dishes, soups, salads and sandwiches. Brunch is ala carte and will be served from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with lighter fare served from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Oasis Café will only be open from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Christmas Eve serving the regular brunch menu and then will be closed in the evening and on Christmas Day to allow their employees to enjoy the holidays with their families.

Enjoy a delectable Christmas Eve sure to be a delicious start to the holidays. Start with a choice of foraged mushroom strudel or baby spinach salad, followed by white vegetable soup with roasted cauliflower, celery leaves and crispy carrots. Then dig into a main course of Niman Ranch filet or pan seared seabass, capped by a dessert of chocolate hazelnut mousse.

Enjoy breakfast staples like eggs benedict and French toast, plus charcuterie and cheese, slow-roasted prime rib, spice-crusted ahi tuna, peppermint fudge cake, shortbread pot de crème and a raw bar. In all, more than a dozen selections will be on offer. Salads and soups; seafood like smoked Utah trout, West Coast oysters, smoked salmon and poached jumbo prawns; baked pies, cakes, pastries and cookies; and traditional items like candied yams, Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, roasted root vegetables and sautéed Brussels sprouts. A carving station will be serving grass-fed prime rib, roasted turkey and rosemary and garlic-crusted leg of lamb, and entrées of Kurobuta pork loin and miso-glazed sea bass will also be on offer.

Powder’s special New Year’s Eve dinner starts with a selection of lobster cocktail or Vertical Farms baby lettuces, followed by mushroom consommé. Then enjoy a succulent Niman Ranch lamb loin or turbo fillet, and a dessert of spiced pear tart. Children also get their own four-course meal, starting with an amuse bouche of almond butter and white-grape caviar, then opening courses of mini iceberg salad and tomato bisque with grilled cheese. For a main choice, pick between classic steak-frites or salmon, and, best of all, a vanilla ice cream sundae for dessert.

Stanza Italian Bistro & Wine Bar’s chef Jonathan LeBlanc is excited to welcome diners for his first holiday season. His special four-course dinner on New Year’s Eve will be served from 5 until 10 p.m. The cost is $75 per person and does not include alcoholic beverages, tax or gratuity.

Stanza’s New Year’s Eve menu includes choices of wild game carpaccio, wagyu beef and Kurobuta pork polpette or grilled oysters. Salad course selections include spinach, salad midi or a classic Caesar. Entrée and pasta choices from Chef LeBlanc’s kitchen include a mouthwatering lobster and shrimp agnolotti, seafood diavolo, Red Bird Farms chicken farfalle, pepper crusted rack of lamb, or a Black Canyon filet. Desserts by Salt Lake’s favorite pastry chef Amber Billingsly include tiramisu, citrus semifreddo or a delicate hazelnut cake. Hillary Merrill’s knowledgeable service staff will guide diners through the best wine and craft cocktail pairings for each course. Stanza will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day to allow their employees to be with their families.

    1. Hi Al, let me know who I missed and happy to add them. These were all the companies and restaurants offering Christmas and NYE specials I could find with time to get to press. More will likely be added over the next week, some places only announce info at the very last minute. Yes, some of these companies listed are our Local Partners, these do represent some of the best businesses in Utah regardless though; we turn down plenty of invitations to take new LPs on board. Safe to say, if they’re a Local Partner, they get my personal thumbs up.
