Goldener Hirsch Inn – October 2nd (6-8 p.m.) sees two Euro-flavored Utah businesses teaming up for a festive event. Deer Valley’s rustic Goldener Hirsch Inn will be partnering with the valley’s Bohemian Brewery for a hopefully long lasting tradition to toast in the snowy season.
Several of Bohemian’s excellent brews will be paired with chef Ryan Burnham’s canny Alpine meets Mountain West cuisine in a ‘bier garden’ format. Price is $60 and the menu is as follows:
First station
Smoked salmon salad, blue potatoes, cucumber, charred pear, endive and lemon confit
Czech pilsner
Second station
Moules frites, salt spring mussels, andouille sausage and fries
Noble hefeweizen
Third station
Pitman Farm’s chicken schnitzel, spaetzel, fennel choucroute & huckleberry mostarda
Marzen
Dessert
Blonde chocolate bombe
Churney bock
If you haven’t had the chance to try Burnham’s cuisine yet, this is a great opportunity to do so at knockout prices. If you can’t make the 2nd, don’t fret – the restaurant is also offering a 2 for 1 special until the end of September; not to mention free wine corkage to boot.

Dine O’Round (SLC) – The 12th annual Downtown Dine O’Round is now in full flow. For those new to the event, it offers a fine way to sample some of downtown’s best and brightest, at a set price that doesn’t break the bank.
Depending on the setup of the restaurant, during the next two weeks or so, diners can sample two-item lunches for $5 or $10 or three-item dinners for $15 or $30. For some restaurants, those prices can mean killer savings. Some sample menus can be found here.
This year restaurant goers are also being offered the opportunity to “win dinner for a year” via an Instagram contest too. And hey, we’re already uploading every snack, meal and drink anyway right, so why not tag it with #DineORound and tag @downtownslc to be automatically entered to win.
And remember, there are no coupons, codes or flyers needed for this fun promotion. Just turn up and ask your server for the Dine O’Round details.
Dine About (Park City) – Imitation, the sincerest form of flattery. While the name and timing might be ever so slightly different, Park City’s 11 day promo is a big gushing, giddy homage to the SLC event. That’s no bad thing, who doesn’t love exploring new restaurants and saving a buck in the process.
Running Thursday, October 1st, to Sunday, October 11th the event’s format runs similarly to that down the mountain. Two-course lunches and three-course dinners from various restaurants, at either $10/$15 per person for lunch, or $20/$40 per person for dinner.
Over 29 restaurants have signed on to participate including: Billy Blanco’s, Chimayo, Deer Valley Grocery-Café, The Eating Establishment, The Brass Tag, Grappa, Grub Steak, Lespri Prime Steak Sushi, Powder at Waldorf Astoria, Riverhorse and Wahso.
Check out the Park City Area Restaurant Association for full details.

Hi, I’m Stuart, nice to meet you! I’m the founder, writer and wrangler at Gastronomic SLC. I’m a multiple-award winning journalist and have written in myopic detail about the Salt Lake City dining scene for the better part of seventeen years.
I’ve worked extensively with multiple local publications from Visit Salt Lake to Salt Lake Magazine, not least helped to consult on national TV. Pause those credits, yep, that’s me! I’m also a former restaurant critic of more than five years, working for the Salt Lake Tribune. I’m largely fueled by a critical obsession with rice, alliteration and the use of big words I don’t understand. What they’re saying about me: “Not inaccurate”, “I thought he was older”, “I don’t share his feelings”.
