Oasis Cafe * – Wondering who might be open during July’s two big holidays – look no further than the tranquil (see: someone else dealing with the chaos of cooking and cleanup) climes of Oasis Cafe. This year the restaurant will open for brunch on July 4th, serving from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Also on Friday July 24th Oasis will serve brunch from 8 a.m. followed by lunch from 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. “Last year was our first time we’ve ever been open for dinner on the 24th,” said General Manager Will Keesen. “We are bringing it back by popular demand. Dinner under the stars on the moonlit patio is a favorite with locals wanting to avoid the crowds.”

Eat Drink SLC * – Following on from last week’s preview of Eat Drink SLC, we now have a little more detail on this inaugural celebration of SLC’s fine food and wine scene.
First up, some information on what food you can expect to be gobbling up in the cool shade of Tracy Aviary:
Forage – Perogi with duck egg
J Wong’s Asian Bistro – Pork belly sliders
The Annex By Epic – Watermelon carpaccio
Finca – Shrimp ceviche
Avenues Proper – Spicy chicken sandwich
3 Cups – Almond ricotta cake
And of course, lots more still to be announced from the likes of Copper Onion, Whiskey Street, Provisions and many others. A final note is that each ticket comes with ten drinks coupons affording you sips from the plethora of wineries, breweries and distilleries on hand. Which ever way you skin it, the ticket is looking like a bargain. Be sure to buy tickets before they sell out. Capacity is limited to just 500.
Under Current – On Wednesday July 8th, hit up SLC’s newest, in vogue and trendiest bar and sample the wines of Road 31 Wine Co. Wine maker Kent Fortner will be on hand to guide guests through a tasting of his hand crafted wines (Road 31 and Tricycle Wine Co.) while chef Logen Crew will offer a selection of small bites.
The tasting begins at 6:00 p.m. and is priced at $55 per person. Availability is very limited and reservations should be made via email to: amanda@currentfishandoyster.com

* Gastronomic SLC is a proud local partner of Oasis Cafe and Eat Drink SLC.
Hi, I’m Stuart, nice to meet you! I’m the founder, writer and wrangler at Gastronomic SLC. I’m a multiple-award winning journalist and have written in myopic detail about the Salt Lake City dining scene for the better part of seventeen years.
I’ve worked extensively with multiple local publications from Visit Salt Lake to Salt Lake Magazine, not least helped to consult on national TV. Pause those credits, yep, that’s me! I’m also a former restaurant critic of more than five years, working for the Salt Lake Tribune. I’m largely fueled by a critical obsession with rice, alliteration and the use of big words I don’t understand. What they’re saying about me: “Not inaccurate”, “I thought he was older”, “I don’t share his feelings”.
