Should you be a fan of all thing Utahn and brewing, be sure to keep the 11th of September free in your diary next month. You won’t want to miss City Weekly’s first ever Beer Festival! This afternoon long event takes place at the Salt Lake City & County Building downtown.
Tickets are $25 in advance. For this measly sum of money, you can sample as many craft beers as your heart (and liver) desires. That’s right, one fee grants you unfettered access to over 40 of Utah’s award winning beers (including full strength varieties). Pourings will be 3 ounces in size and the event runs from 1PM to 6PM.
Tickets can also be purchased on the day of the event for $35 and are available from the city weekly website or smithtix.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Local First. So what better way to support all things local, kicking back in the late summer sun, while sipping on some of the best brews Utah has to offer.

Hi, I’m Stuart, nice to meet you! I’m the founder, writer and wrangler at Gastronomic SLC. I’m a multiple-award winning journalist and have written in myopic detail about the Salt Lake City dining scene for the better part of seventeen years.
I’ve worked extensively with multiple local publications from Visit Salt Lake to Salt Lake Magazine, not least helped to consult on national TV. Pause those credits, yep, that’s me! I’m also a former restaurant critic of more than five years, working for the Salt Lake Tribune. I’m largely fueled by a critical obsession with rice, alliteration and the use of big words I don’t understand. What they’re saying about me: “Not inaccurate”, “I thought he was older”, “I don’t share his feelings”.

Sounds like fun, but who’s brilliant idea was to have it at the same time as the University of Utah’s home game that week??? Seems you’ll be missing out on ALOT of beer drinkers….IMHO.. Sucks we’ll have to miss it…
