$50 at Market Street’s fresh salmon celebration

Right now, Market Street restaurants are celebrating all things Salmon. The fresh, wild Alaskan salmon season recently began, and all Market Street Grill, Oyster Bar, and Fish Market locations are joining in. The “all Alaska” salmon line-up will vary this season between the following selections:

Coho – Distinguished by its orange-red color, fine texture, and moist finish

Copper River – Recognized by some as the world’s best eating salmon with a firm, yet delicate, texture
and rich flavor

King – In terms of flavor and texture, it deserves its royal status

Sockeye – A sought-after salmon species, named for its distinctive deep red flesh and rich flavor

The season runs into early September with delicious selections available at lunch and dinner, and even at breakfast at the Market Street Grill/Downtown. Bill McArthur, Chef at Market Street Grill/Oyster Bar-Cottonwood says, “It’s no secret that salmon is loaded with the health benefits provided by omega-3 fatty acids. Studies have shown that if you’re looking to boost your omega-3 intake, even one serving a week of wild Alaska salmon helps lower cholesterol and the risk of heart disease.”. Fresh, wild Alaska salmon filets are available at all Market Street Fish Markets for the home chef. And customers can purchase Market Street’s own freshly prepared Cucumber-Dill Sauce by the half-pint to serve with their salmon filets. Salmon recipe cards are also available, free for the taking, at all Fish Market locations.

  1. When I am feeling extra healthy, I like to grill some shrimp and serve it with asparagus. Quick, easy, and tasty.

  2. I love roasted cauliflower. Cut the head into bite-sized pieces, toss with a bit of oil, sprinkle with salt, and spread it out over a baking sheet in a 400 degree oven until golden brown and delicious.

  3. This summer I’ve beenenjoying whole grain and flax seed pasta fromthe farmer’s market when I want to eat healthy but not be deprived of flavor.

  4. Well actually Salmon is one of my healthy favorites. Like it pretty much any way but one of my favs is cedar plank smoked salmon.

  5. I love my soy smoothie…recipe: 8 oz vanilla soy milk, 1/2 c. plain yogurt, 1/2 c. blueberries, and a few strawberries. It’s amazing. But I’m also loving zucchini this year- so easy to chop & sautee!

  6. My favorite healthy treat is a crisp apple–one that you bite into and a BIG chunk comes off in the first bite!

  7. Butternut squash! Eat it like french fries, mash it up with some brown sugar, or roast it straight up. I When squash season comes along, I become a woman with a mission.

  8. Cottage cheese is the very very best for feeling health-conscious while enjoying the shit out of your food. Cottage cheese with peaches or Triscuits is even better.

  9. My favorite healthy treat is homemade 7-grain bread, fresh out of the oven. You don’t even need to put anything on it.

  10. I like to slice up a bunch of red, yellow and orange bell peppers and eat them like potato chips! They’re crispy, tasty, juicy and yummy!
