Two updates have hit this downtown spot, he biggest of which sees the business adding lunch hours for the first time since its opening in SLC. Flanker is now open for lunch Monday through Friday, 11.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

The lunch menu features several handhelds, salads & daily house-made sweet treats. Items include Flanker’s 1/2 pound smash burger, a BBQ brisket sandwich, and a loaded Italian grinder. The menu is also launching soon on Uber Eats, and DoorDash.

The Sunday brunch menu (10.30 a.m. – 3.00 p.m.) has also seen a refresh, too, with new dishes including Dubai Chocolate Pancakes, Ube & Coconut French Toast, and an Açaí Bowl.

Monte

If you missed this article a few months ago, here’s your reminder to go and do some homework. The latest news from the fine dining spot is a new Fall update with the business writing:

. . .

As the crisp autumn air settles in, we’re excited to unveil our brand-new Fall Menu at Monte! We’ve crafted a fresh selection of seasonal dishes, brimming with rich flavors and the warmth of fall. Whether you’re craving a comforting classic or a new twist on an old favorite, we have something to delight every palate.

From roasted root vegetables to decadent desserts, each dish is designed to celebrate the bounty of the season. We’d love for you to come in and experience these mouthwatering creations firsthand.

1833 Craft

Salt Lake City’s only zero-alcohol craft cocktail bar is open an extra night each week. Co-owner Matthew D. LaPlante recently reached out to share the following with me:

. . .

When my sister Kelly and I launched 1833 Craft in January as a Thursdays-only endeavor, it wasn’t meant to be a full-time gig. When I’m not mixing drinks behind the bar (at 1398 S. 1100 East — four blocks south of The Whale) I’m a climate scientist, writer, and university professor. Kelly is an interior designer and sustainability consultant with projects in Austin, Venice Beach, and the Moon (no, really, the actual effing Moon!) And so, while we really wanted our beautiful bar to succeed and grow, we didn’t have more than one night a week to give to this little side hustle.

But every Thursday, someone — and often multiple people — would ask us when we were going to open up on other days. Sometimes they’d practically beg. And several times people told us they actually work Thursday nights but took a night off so that they could come try our cocktails.

We also have seen how much this place has come to mean to people, who have celebrated weddings, birthdays, retirements, and sober anniversaries with us. We’ve built a community of regulars that includes people who have never had alcohol in their lives, those who do drink alcohol but appreciate being able to have a cocktail without a hangover, and people who have stopped drinking — either temporarily or altogether. And every week new people wander in to take a chance on something different. Some live just around the corner. Others have driven more than a hundred miles to raise a glass with us. During Kilby Block Party, a group of friends from all over the country left a concert early to make sure they hit us up before closing time.

So, we’ve doubled down — opening up on Fridays, too.

Our special this week is The Vesper Lynd, a modern take on a 007 favorite, with zero-proof gin and vodka, a touch of vermouth, lemon peel, and a red pepper garnish. We’ve also just rolled out our new fall menu, with a maplewood-smoked orgeat, a blueberry and saffron euphoric, and a tequila-cinnamon-espresso martini, among other cocktails.

Cena

Wednesdays (at 5.30 p.m.) are now home to a new special three-course menu (with select wine pairings) by Cena’s chef Tobin Torrez. Courses will change each week, including a chef’s special margherita pizza, appetizer, and entrée. The Wednesday menu is priced at $64 per guest, or $32 per guest for food only.

Small bites

Bobby’s Burgers – The celeb-backed brand is celebrating fall with two new fall-worthy additions to the menu, namely the Wild Mushroom Bacon Burger and the Pumpkin Spice Milkshake. Both are available at all Bobby’s Burgers locations until November 30th. The burger features grilled Angus beef, bacon, melted white American cheese, sautéed cremini mushrooms, and red wine BBQ sauce.

Dangerous Pretel – Another Fall update at this Post District pretzel spot. New to the menu – Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Pretzel Bombs; chocolate-studded dough drizzled with a spiced brown butter glaze.

Kona Grill Riverton – Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Bisque with seared shrimp, and a Pumpkin Spice Margarita have now hit the Fall menu at this seafood spot.

Mensho – For a limited time, the Salt Lake City outpost of this global ramen name will offer three extra toppings for just $5, including their signature Jadori eggs from free-range hens on a traditional Japanese farm.

STK – More Fall action, with the downtown SLC steak house adding a Pumpkin Ravioli with king crab, Pumpkin Pie with candied, and a Pumpkin Bourbon Smash cocktail to the menu.

Urban Sailor – A Pumpkin Pie Latte takes the spotlight on the menu this Autumn. Irish Cream, Amaretto, and Almond pours also join the seasonal special.
