A look at what Utah food writers have been covering this month

Monte - hosted with Beehive Distillery (Gastronomic SLC)

Starting with Ted Scheffler in Utah Stories, who stopped by Monte (South Salt Lake). The multi-plate tasting concept has been one of the most interesting openings in the state this year; I wrote about chef Martin Babbio back in August, a very talented chap. Scheffler also heads to Strada (Downtown SLC), Mazza (15th and 15th), and Purple Sky Winery (Pleasant View). Taylor Hartman meanwhile, writes about Maddox Ranch House (Perry), and Heather L. King dishes up dining choices under $25 (various).

Over in the City Weekly, Alex Springer hits up Side Of Aloha (Draper), Mozz Artisan Pizza (various), Moena Cafe (Daybreak), The Holy Grill (Pleasant Grove), Creole Cafe & Sliders (South Salt Lake), and also talks about raising a foodie and a selection of vegan options.

On the magazine front, SL Mag’s Avrey Evans gets to grips with Sugar House Station (Sugar House), and talks about making sense of Utah’s liquor laws with lawyer Tanner Lenart. Lydia Martinez waxes lyrical over Mar | Muntanya‘s (Downtown SLC) bread pudding and talks about exceptional hospitality with Jessica Johns of Urban Hill (Post District). Lastly, Melissa Fields explores the Utah wine trail.

In Slug, Sean Rinn visits Cosmica (Central 9th), which you might have seen was flagged as one of the top restaurants in the USA by the NY Times. The restaurant has seen packed bookings since. Here’s my article on the beautiful restaurant from back in May. Slug’s Christian Ledek also writes up Goat Head (SLC).

What else. Meg Walter continues her search for the best chips and salsa, and Sarah Gambles talks about the venerable Mazza (SLC). Jonathan Herrera checks out La Finca Mexican Cuisine (Park City), and Valerie Phillips explains some of the recent changes at Idle Isle Cafe (Brigham City).
