If you’re wistfully reminiscing over the Summer market season, go grab your shopping bags from the closet stat. Maybe a scarf too. This weekend sees the return of the Winer edition of downtown SLC’s farmer’s market; the more compact indoor experience that runs November through April. This year’s Winter market returns this very weekend – Saturday 12th – and also marks ten years for the cozier format.
The 2022 market is once again held at the Gateway in downtown SLC, starting each and every Saturday at 10.00 a.m. – this Saturday’s kick off will also be opened by Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall. The launch day also sees the new #SHOPSLC an initiative – aimed at encouraging residents and visitors to shop, dine, and explore arts and entertainment throughout the City this holiday season and support small business.
In addition to local promotions and discounts, the #SHOPSLC program will feature five weeks of
local giveaways. The first giveaway features a one-night stay at Hotel Monaco, a $75 gift
certificate to Bambara, and two tickets to A Soulful Holiday with the Utah Symphony. Use the hashtag on your favorite social media to enter to win.
Running every Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through till April 22nd, you can find the market on the North West corner of the Gateway – making good use of the old Apple store location (here’s a map of the layout). I’m told shoppers can expect as many as 60 different local vendors selling a variety of produce, meat, eggs, cheese, baked goods, sauces, condiments, chocolate, and much more. The weekly event also showcases art and craft vendors, perfect for shopping local for the holidays.

Hi, I’m Stuart, nice to meet you! I’m the founder, writer and wrangler at Gastronomic SLC. I’m a multiple-award winning journalist and have written in myopic detail about the Salt Lake City dining scene for the better part of seventeen years.
I’ve worked extensively with multiple local publications from Visit Salt Lake to Salt Lake Magazine, not least helped to consult on national TV. Pause those credits, yep, that’s me! I’m also a former restaurant critic of more than five years, working for the Salt Lake Tribune. I’m largely fueled by a critical obsession with rice, alliteration and the use of big words I don’t understand. What they’re saying about me: “Not inaccurate”, “I thought he was older”, “I don’t share his feelings”.
