Dine O’Round Chef Showdown
Come join me at Squatters in downtown SLC tomorrow night (Wednesday October 10th) where I’ll be doing my best Gordon Ramsay / Simon Cowell impression. Starting at 6 p.m. at the downtown brewpub, the 2018 edition of the Dine O’Round Chef Showdown will kick off. During the evening Amanda McGraw of The Copper Onion and Jonathan LeBlanc of Stanza Italian Bistro & Wine Bar will compete in a head-to-head competition; a three-round cookoff incorporating secret ingredients from the Downtown SLC Farmers Market.
I’ll be joined by local food writer Aimee Cook and Matt Crandall – winner of last years event – and head honcho of cuisine at The Bourbon Group (Whiskey Street, White Horse, Bourbon House). Should you swing by you can watch events unfurl and support Utahns Against Hunger too, which the event benefits.
Cost is $35 and guests will be able to enjoy a few small bites and signature cocktails from the restaurants participating as you watch them face off. Say hi if you stop by!

This years event will be held in the imposing downtown SLC Masonic Temple, which should make for a fascinating event by itself alone. Tickets are $125 with $25 for wine pairings:

Hi, I’m Stuart, nice to meet you! I’m the founder, writer and wrangler at Gastronomic SLC. I’m a multiple-award winning journalist and have written in myopic detail about the Salt Lake City dining scene for the better part of seventeen years.
I’ve worked extensively with multiple local publications from Visit Salt Lake to Salt Lake Magazine, not least helped to consult on national TV. Pause those credits, yep, that’s me! I’m also a former restaurant critic of more than five years, working for the Salt Lake Tribune. I’m largely fueled by a critical obsession with rice, alliteration and the use of big words I don’t understand. What they’re saying about me: “Not inaccurate”, “I thought he was older”, “I don’t share his feelings”.
