Bambara * – The excellent Sip & Savor Soiree tasting series returns on Wednesday, April 29, from 6-7:30 p.m; S&S is a refreshing change of pace form the bloated tasting dinner format. The event is just 90 minutes and the cost is gentle on the wallet.
Next Wednesday Bambara’s team will focus on craft distillery pairings for the first time as part of their seasonal educational series held in the Vault Bar. Sugar House Distillery’s founder James Fowler will be on hand to discuss the pairing and flavor profiles of their vodka, malt whiskey and silver rum. Chef Nathan Powers will delight guests with seasonal small plates specifically geared to the unique flavor profile of each of their distilled spirits.
The cost for Chef Powers’ seasonal small plates pairing menu is $10 for bites and optional cocktail pairing selections are an additional $20 per person. Seating is very limited and reservations are required.
“What a great opportunity to dive into the art of the craft cocktail pairing tips and tricks,” said Guy Wheelwright, general manager, Bambara. “Sugar House Distillery does all their own fermentation, distillation and aging all in-house and we’re so proud to be able to help our guests learn from the best .”

Hi, I’m Stuart, nice to meet you! I’m the founder, writer and wrangler at Gastronomic SLC and The Utah Review; I’m also a former restaurant critic of more than five years, working for the Salt Lake Tribune. I’ve worked extensively with other local publications from Utah Stories through to Salt Lake Magazine and Visit Salt Lake.
I’m a multiple-award winning journalist and have covered the Utah dining scene for more than a decade. I’m largely fueled by Uinta Cutthroat, alliteration and the use of too many big words I don’t understand. I ate all the pies.
