beer blues and brats Beer, Blues and Brats – This Sunday, head to the Crossroads Urban Center for the fifth annual Beer, Blues & Brats Benefit Party. Feast on brats, baked beans, salad, coleslaw, and desserts. Groove to the sounds of the J. T. Draper Band and participate in the silent auction.

Tickets are a minimum $45 donation in advance or $50 at the door. Proceeds go to Crossroads Urban Center, an organization that has helped Utahns in need with food and clothing since 1966. The Foodtrepreneur Festival is a celebration of the entrepreneurs who are making Utah more delicious. Come hear the stories behind local food companies and learn first-hand from the founders. And get ready to eat too – sample products from over 30 Utah food companies, and talk directly to the founders, who will all be on hand to tell their stories, answer questions, and serve up big entrepreneurial inspiration.

The event runs 4:30pm – 7:00pm and is completely free to the public, but be sure to RSVP online.

Bambara * – The excellent Sip & Savor Soiree tasting series returns on Wednesday, April 29, from 6-7:30 p.m; S&S is a refreshing change of pace form the bloated tasting dinner format. The event is just 90 minutes and the cost is gentle on the wallet.

Next Wednesday Bambara’s team will focus on craft distillery pairings for the first time as part of their seasonal educational series held in the Vault Bar. Sugar House Distillery’s founder James Fowler will be on hand to discuss the pairing and flavor profiles of their vodka, malt whiskey and silver rum. Chef Nathan Powers will delight guests with seasonal small plates specifically geared to the unique flavor profile of each of their distilled spirits.

The cost for Chef Powers’ seasonal small plates pairing menu is $10 for bites and optional cocktail pairing selections are an additional $20 per person. Seating is very limited and reservations are required.

“What a great opportunity to dive into the art of the craft cocktail pairing tips and tricks,” said Guy Wheelwright, general manager, Bambara. “Sugar House Distillery does all their own fermentation, distillation and aging all in-house and we’re so proud to be able to help our guests learn from the best .”
