Help Frida Bistro support ESLC

Frida Bistro’s creative cuisine will taste especially delicious this coming Tuesday, with every dish served supporting a wonderful cause. The restaurant will be donating 10% of total food sales on Tuesday, February 5th 2013 to the English Skills Learning Center. The ESLC provides individualized English instruction to adult English language learners in Salt Lake County.

The ESLC, a non-profit social services agency, provides individualized English instruction to adult refugees and immigrants. The recipients of these services speak little or no English, and often are not literate in any language. Volunteers teach the students twice a week at times and locations that are convenient for both the volunteer and the student. The ESLC tutors students from 40 different countries, works with 175 volunteers, and serves close to 500 students at any given time in the Salt Lake City area. The money raised from this event is part of a larger campaign to raise $25,000 in celebration of the organization’s 25th anniversary. The money will be used to fund a growing capacity for classes.

Hi, I’m Stuart, nice to meet you!  I’m the founder, writer and wrangler at Gastronomic SLC.  I’m a multiple-award winning journalist and have written in myopic detail about the Salt Lake City  dining scene for the better part of seventeen years.

I’ve worked extensively with multiple local publications from Visit Salt Lake to Salt Lake Magazine, not least helped to consult on national TV.   Pause those credits, yep, that’s me!
