Cast your Oscars vote with Bambara
To celebrate the 2013 Academy Awards, Bambara is featuring original specialty drinks, each designed for an Oscar “Best Picture” nominee and crafted by the expert bartenders in Bambara’s popular bar, “The Vault.” Available now through Feb. 24 when the awards are bestowed, every vote (order) will be tallied until the big night when patrons are invited to see how their selections fare against the Academy’s awardees. Bambara’s mixologists will issue their predictions on Thursday, Feb. 21. in the Vault.
“Our Oscar-themed cocktails this year were really a pleasure to create because there is a lot of creative inspiration from the subject matter and tone of the nominated films,” said Bambara’s expert mixologist, Austin Craig. “I was able to incorporate a local Utah whiskey that relates to the old wild west into the drink for Django Unchained which I thought matched up really well with the movie’s setting.”

Hi, I’m Stuart, nice to meet you! I’m the founder, writer and wrangler at Gastronomic SLC. I’m a multiple-award winning journalist and have written in myopic detail about the Salt Lake City dining scene for the better part of seventeen years.
I’ve worked extensively with multiple local publications from Visit Salt Lake to Salt Lake Magazine, not least helped to consult on national TV. Pause those credits, yep, that’s me! I’m also a former restaurant critic of more than five years, working for the Salt Lake Tribune. I’m largely fueled by a critical obsession with rice, alliteration and the use of big words I don’t understand. What they’re saying about me: “Not inaccurate”, “I thought he was older”, “I don’t share his feelings”.
